Come see the exciting kick off to the girls volleyball season as Penfield is host to the 30th Annual Labor Day Tournament. Teams from around Monroe County, the state, and Canada will converge to play for the gold medal.
The junior varsity tournament is Friday at Penfield High School, with the varsity tournament on Saturday at PHS and Bay Trail Middle School.
The matches start at 8:30 a.m. with the playoffs to begin around 2:15 p.m.
Some of the registered teams include: Canandaigua Academy - 2009 State and Section 5 Class AA champion, Victor - 2008 and 2009 State and Section 5 Class A champion, Baldwinsville (Section 3) - 2009 State Class AA finalist, North Tonawanda (Section 6) - 2009 State Regional Class AA finalist, Wayne - 2009 State Regional Class B finalist, Mercy - 2009 Section 5 Class A finalist, Livonia - 2009 Section 5 Class B finalist, Byron-Bergen - 2009 Section 5 Class C finalist, Webster Schroeder - 2009 Section 5 Class AA semifinalist, Lancaster (Section 6) - 2009 Class AA semifinalist, Grand Island (Section 6) - 2009 Class A semifinalist, and De La Salle (Canada) - 2010 Class AA OFSAA quarterfinalist.
