Sep 25, 2011 @ 04:48 PM
Flower City Down Syndrome Network held its annual Buddy Walk on Sunday, Sept. 25 at North Ponds Park in Webster, drawing out hundreds to walk around the pond in the name of support for those with down syndrome and their families.
Online donations for the walk netted more than $17,000 according to initial tallies, and the Webster Thomas football program donated an additional $1,800. A generous donation of more than $10,000 came from Victor's Mickey Finn's Restaurant, which was raised in August through the Mickey Finn's Inaugural Golf Tournament.
Flower City Down Syndrome Network provides education and support to families throughout the greater Rochester area. The group's outreach includes age-divided support groups, social events and free information packets at birthing centers.
