The Webster Community Chest recently made its 2016 annual report.
The organization received 1,800 calls. The weekly food distribution received 1,812 visits, and 213 holiday food baskets were given out. Twenty-four Webster children had a WCC scholarship to attend a week of summer camp. In addition, 30 families received financial assistance.
The organization also helped a number of organizations that provide services to Webster residents. In 2016, the chest served Mercy Flight, Webster senior citizens, Webster Challenger Baseball and the Early Learning Center at the Webster Public Library.
Wegmans, Hegedorn’s, BJ’s, Schutts, Panera Bread and Ridge Donut Cafe made weekly donations for the Tuesday food distributions. The Maplewood Nursing Home donated fresh food monthly. Trident Manufacturing employees raised funds to purchase food and other products for the food cupboard. Families donated their surplus produce from their gardens. Also, more than 50 WCC volunteers donate thousands of volunteer hours each year.
The annual fund drive, which begins in fall each year, raised funds to support all programs. Even though the 2016 drive is officially over, donations are still being accepted throughout the year. To make a monetary donation, mail a check to 1000 Ridge Road, Webster. Credit Card donations are accepted through webcommchest.org.
