Geva Theatre Center, 75 Woodbury Blvd., Rochester, will present “Sylvia” at various times from Jan. 10 through Feb. 5.
The adult comedy, written by A.R. Gurney and directed by Mark Cuddy, follows couple Greg and Kate, who have relocated to Manhattan after two decades of raising their family in the suburbs. When Greg finds a labradoodle, Sylvia, in Central Park and brings her home, it tests his marriage.
The production’s cast features Rochester native Jennifer Cody, Tony Award-nominee Hunter Foster, John Scherer and Dee Hoty in her Geva debut. The design team includes scenic designer Jo Winiarski, costume designer Susan Branch Towne, lighting designer Ann G. Wrightson and sound designer Scott Killian.
“Sylvia” premiered off-Broadway in 1995 at the Manhattan Theatre Club, where it ran for 167 performances.
