Rochester’s Soul Passenger will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. Jan. 6 at Abilene Bar and Lounge, 153 Liberty Pole Way, Rochester.
The rock and blues band includes guitarist Ethan Porter, drummer Dave Cohen, bassist Mark Terranova and lead singer Tyler Norton. Soul Passenger plays a mix of originals penned by Porter and Norton and covers.
“Our plan is to be a spirited, original band on a journey, engaging with our audiences young and old along the way,” said Porter, who has played jingles, recordings and gigs in Rochester and toured around with world with Bat McGrath.
Norton, formerly of the The Meddling Kids, also fronts Download, a local, hard rock cover band. Terranova, besides gigging with Jimmie Highsmith, plays with Joe Brucato and Cinnamon Jones. Cohen has been playing with Prime Time Funk — the official house band of the Rochester Music Hall of Fame — since it started more than 20 years ago, and was a co-founder of ‘80s Atlantic Records band Backseat Sally.
“Soul Passenger is a result of the four of us crossing paths on the local music scene over the years and finding that we have common musical goals,” Porter said. “We’re very excited to share our music with Rochester.”
A $5 cover charge starts at 8:15 p.m. Our Own Worst Enemy will perform after Soul Passenger.
