Just before midnight on Thursday, police say a pedestrian was struck near Monroe Avenue. The vehicle left the scene and the 55-year-old man who was hit, later died. Anyone with information is asked to come forward.

Rochester police say a man was killed after he was struck in a hit-and-run crash just before midnight on Thursday.

It happened in the area of Monroe Avenue near the Route 490 exit. Police say they were called there for reports of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle. The victim, a 55-year-old man, was later pronounced dead.

Police say that the driver continued driving east on Monroe Avenue.

As of Friday morning, officers tell News10NBC that they're checking with witnesses, but do not have a detailed description of the driver or the vehicle involved in the crash.
