To mark its 35th year the agency known as Continuing Developmental Services, or simply CDS, is changing its name to CDS Monarch, including a butterfly logo above the first three letters. CDS Monarch has a large facility on Hard Road in Webster.

“CDS Monarch is a reflection of our own transition — as a company — so that we can continue to meet the needs of individuals and families in our community,” said Mark Peterson, chairman of the board of CDS Monarch.

Through its Life Transitions program, CDS Monarch has become a leading service and employment provider for individuals with developmental disabilities in Upstate New York. It also now provides affordable housing for seniors, through its Monarch Senior Living division, as well as services for veterans with traumatic brain injuries and post traumatic stress disorder through its Warrior Salute program.

In a statement, CDS Monarch said that it’s important for its brand to be more recognizable and inclusive of all of the services it provides, as well as those it may provide in the future.

“We are celebrating 35 years of outreach and service; it seemed fitting that we would take our brand and adapt it to our expanding services to better represent who we are today,” said Sankar Sewnauth, president and CEO of CDS Monarch.

The transition to the new name and butterfly logo, along with a new tag line, “Celebrating the Everyday of Life,” started early this year.

As a tribute to CDS founders Lew and Phyllis Wolf, the name of the CDS Foundation has also formally changed to The Wolf Foundation.

Currently, more than 1,700 people being supported by CDS Monarch work on personal goals such as a home of their own, employment, and/or becoming involved in their community.
