In recognition of her extraordinary commitment to promoting women’s health and community revitalization, Patti Cataldi of Webster is among the outstanding women across New York State who were honored at the 2012 "Women of Distinction" ceremony held May 16 at the State Capitol.

Cataldi, a breast cancer survivor who serves as chairwoman of the board of the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester and has been a member of the Webster Town Board since 2009, was nominated for the honor by state Senator Mike Nozzolio.

"Patti Cataldi’s dedication, commitment and extraordinary public service has made a tremendous positive impact on women and families throughout our region and made our community as a whole a better place to live," Nozzolio said.

Cataldi was joined at the ceremony in Albany by her husband, Richard.

As an advocate for Main Street revitalization and local economic development, Cataldi has also served as a director for the Webster Village Business Improvement District. She is a member of the Webster Chamber of Commerce and in her role on the Town Board, helped to create Webster's new Community Center.

After being diagnosed in 2006, Cataldi became involved in the coalition and dedicated herself to helping other women whose lives have been impacted by breast cancer. Her fundraising efforts directing the coalition’s ARTrageous Affair Gala raised over $325,000 for women living with breast cancer.

In her position as chairwoman of the coalition’s board, she travels across New York and to Washington D.C. to meet with state and federal representatives to advocate for legislative issues affecting breast cancer survivors.

Launched in 1998, the Women of Distinction program was created to celebrate the rich heritage of notable women from New York's past as well as to honor outstanding women today who have followed their example.
