At a press conference just minutes ago, Webster Police Chief Gerald Pickering, joined by Monroe County Sheriff Patrick O'Flynn and Webster Supervisor Ron Nesbitt, confirmed thart four firefighters were shot when they responded to a blaze on Lake Road, near Bay Road, early this morning, and two were killed. Two others are being treated at Strong Hospital.

Law enforcement teams, firefighters and evacuees have since swarmed both area of the fire on Lake Road near the Outlet Bridge in Webster, and on the Irondequoit side of the bridge, along Irondequoit Bay.

Authorities did also just say that firefighters have now been able to get into the area to fight the blaze, now involving three houses and a car.

Officials in the town of Webster tell local media outlets that someone shot at firefighters around 6 a.m. Monday when they arrived at the scene of the blaze.

Officials say the house is still burning and the fire has spread to three homes and a motor vehicle.

Earlier, a man answering the phone at the fire station says firefighters are unable to battle the blazes because the area still hasn't been secured by police. The man says no other information is being released.

Emergency crews were originally called to the area for the report of a structure fire.

Currently, Monroe County Sheriff's Deputies and the SWAT team are on scene, along with multiple fire crews.
